The Seosamh Mac Gabhann Summer School committee would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that made our 9th Annual Summer School possible. The event took place from June 30th to July 5th and was the largest Summer School to date with pupils attending from 16 counties as well as Canada, The Netherlands and France.
It would not be possible to hold the Summer School without our sponsors – Mayo County Council, The Department of Arts, Heritage & The Gaeltacht, IMRO, Comhaltas and Kilmovee Bingo. We would like to thank Minister Michael Ring, Senator John O’Mahony, Councillors John Caulfield and Gerry Murray for helping to secure this funding.
We would also like to thank all the local businesses who provided raffle prizes – Ballaghaderreen Credit Union, Durkin’s Bar & Restaurant, All Seasons’ Florists, Duffy’s SuperValu, Brian Mulligan, Padraig Mulligan, Kelly’s TV & Electrical, Brusna Inn, Imelda Towey, Fiddlers Elbow and Kilmovee C.C.É.
Thank you to our wonderful team of volunteers who look after all our pupils during the week with support from the staff of the Kilmovee Community Centre and Kilmovee Family Resource Centre. A special word of thanks to photographer James Hunt, Videographer Tom Coppinger, Kilmovee Info and all those who helped with Social Media.
Finally a huge thank you to the top class tutors and all the pupils who attended the week. The feedback has been hugely positive with everyone delighted with the value for money, top class tutors, sessions, Le Chéile, Atlantic Rhythm, Concerts, accommodation and of course the famous Kilmovee welcome they enjoyed for the week. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the 10th Annual Seosamh Mac Gabhann Summer School which will take place from June 28th to July 3rd, 2020.
