Bronze Age forts in Kilmovee may be key to modern-day prosperity

/ / Latest posts

The ‘Caiseal’ in Kilmovee which is the hidden gem that is the focal point of our Summer School Heritage Tour may soon become a leading attraction in Ireland, as per an article in the Western People on 23 March 2015. The article describes the work of James Bonsall (lecturer at Sligo IT) and his findings from extensive studies at this site, which are set to resume this Summer as part of the Kilcashel Landscape Project. You can read full details of this survey at www.kilcashel.com. If you want to explore this site, which dates back over 2000 years and yet remains in remarkable condition with much or the original structure still in place, then join us on our Heritage Tour which starts at the ‘Cois Tine’ Heritage Tour in Kilmovee at 2pm on Sunday 29 June, with an introductory talk by our special guest – Dr. Seamus Caulfield.
